Domis Construction, founded in 2017, is a UK-wide boutique developer and contractor that delivers high-quality, client‑focused projects from concept through completion—leveraging dedicated delivery teams, transparent communication, and innovative tech to build inspiring residential, commercial, and mixed‑use spaces on time and on budget .
The Challenge
Before adopting Sablono, Domis faced several key challenges:
- Manual Workload: Each project required daily update meetings involving up to eight people, totalling around 40 man-hours per week per site.
- Paper-based processes: Teams recorded updates in notebooks while on-site, then rewrote them on a noticeboard once they returned to the office.
- Lack of Accountability: With no clear record of who made updates, the Excel-based tracker often led to discrepancies.
- Fragmented Quality Processes: Quality checks were tracked separately, making it difficult to correlate them with live project data.
- Limited Data Visibility: Critical information, such as progress photos or QA documentation, was hard to access, affecting aftercare and compliance.

Why Sablono
Facing the limitations of their existing process, Domis considered developing a bespoke solution. However, concerns over cost, scalability, and risk led them to seek an off-the-shelf platform.
Requirement-Driven Search
Led by Katherine Bromwell, Business Change Manager, Domis outlined a 12-page requirements document. This structured approach guided their vendor evaluation process, ensuring that any chosen platform aligned with real operational needs.

Starting Small, Thinking Big
Domis began with a pilot project which they initially decided to run for three months. This allowed the team to focus, learn quickly, and build confidence in the new system.
The pilot proved successful just three weeks later, with the intuitive interface and visual tracking leading to quick buy-in from site teams. At this point, Domis scaled Sablono across their remaining projects and workflows.

Rapid Scaling
The company rolled out Sablono across all 10 live projects, supported by a central in-house team that managed deployment, answered site queries, and tailored trackers to each project.
The process of initially trialling Sablono on one project to scaling across the remaining nine live projects took them just 6 weeks.
They tracked all aspects of the build, including piling, pre-pour, slabs, facade, early works, all the way through to handover.
Centralised Support

Always know the status
Teams were able to make updates live from the site from their mobiles, which eliminated manual paper-based processes and ensured that all project data was up to date.
Using Sablono's Activity Tracker, Domis were able to see at a glance the status and progress of a project.
They were able to see whether a project was on time and whether there were any issues. This provided real visibility to all project stakeholders.
Greater Accountability
Every update in Sablono is traceable—users can easily see who made what change and when. This level of transparency has built trust across teams and improved communication with subcontractors.
Scalable Standardisation
Domis now maintains a standard suite of 15 trackers, which can be duplicated and tailored to new projects quickly, ensuring consistency without compromising flexibility.
Subcontractor Engagement
Although initial adoption by subcontractors required some firm direction, they quickly recognised the benefits. Many have become active users, while only a few continue using their own QA tools, with Domis integrating their outputs into Sablono for a single source of truth.
