Sablono platform 3.18

We are proud to present version 3.18 of the Sablono platform! It comes with a massive update on the Week Plan page, including a UI overhaul, the introduction of the Sablono Look Ahead schedule as well as the possibility to automatically forecast your activities schedule.

The newest features include:

  • You can now click on Activities presented in the Week Plan to see all detailed information related to them.
  • If you want to work on your Look Ahead schedule, you will now have to start a Planning Session.
    • Once the session is running, you may now change due dates as well as durations for all Activities from the new Activity Details Panel.
    • While changing those info on Activities you can choose if following activities should also be rescheduled based on your input.
    • The Week Plan will indicate which Activities were moved during the currently running session.
    • At first, all changes done within your session are only visible to you.
    • You can discard all your changes or publish them to the project at any time.
    • Once you publish, other users in the project will receive an email notification that a new Look Ahead schedule has been released and will be able to see your changes on the Week Plan page as well as in the Today app.
    • Currently, all users will only be able to run one session per project at a time. Please make sure to close your session whenever you are done.
  • Your Look Ahead schedule will be saved on a second scheduling layer in the Sablono database.
    • Your baseline plan will still be available after changing dates on the Week Plan. The dashboard and other KPIs, e.g. the late calculation for all Activities, will still be based on the baseline.
    • Currently, only the Week Plan as well as the Today app work based on the Look Ahead schedule.
    • In the future you will be able to compare Baseline vs. Look Ahead vs. Actual on all pages. We will keep you updated on any new developments here.
    • The Activity Details Panel will also show how often the plan was already changed for each individual Activity.
  • After starting a Planning Session, you will now be able to automatically forecast a new activity schedule for all activities that are currently running late.
    • With a simple click of a button Sablono will propose a new Look Ahead schedule based on your currently reported progress.
    • Afterwards you can either accept that plan or parts of it or you come up with your own.
  • You can now filter the Week Plan page by Project Structure to e.g. only see Apartments from a specific Building.
  • The Deliverable Details View has been updated – From now on you will also find detailed information for all Activities displayed here. You will find it once clicking on the Activity that you are interested in.

Also, we released some improvements and solved a few problems:

  • The filter interaction has been improved on all pages.
  • The Week Plan will now also pick up bank holidays that you defined on the Project Settings page.
  • A problem has been resolved which could lead to not being able to load the 2D visualization in MS Internet Explorer.
  • A problem has been resolved which could lead to a broken user interface of the status legend on the 2D visualization page when looking at it using the MS Internet Explorer.

Sablono platform 3.17

Version 3.17 of the Sablono platform has been released. It comes with a new workflow to create Notes for a batch of deliverables.

Features:

  • Use a new workflow on the Deliverables page to create a Note for a batch of deliverables at once. After specifying to which activity you want to add the Note, this will create the same Note for all of your selected deliverables with a single click.

  • Furthermore, the Week Plan page was updated:
    • Responsible Managers can from now on also filter this page to only include areas that they are responsible for.
    • Users may now choose if they want to see one, two or three weeks presented on the page.

    • The initial loading times of the Week Plan have been reduced – Understand what needs to be done next within the blink of an eye.
    • Activities which are running behind progress can from now on be reviewed for each Deliverable separately. The new design will also not change the heights of each Deliverable line presented on the Week Plan, thus enhancing the UX of the page.
  • You will be able to update the status of a batch of selected Deliverables from the 2D visualization now.

Furthermore these improvements and bug-fixes are available:

  • Reporting progress on Activities with a QA checklist attached is not possible through the web-app anymore, since it was leading to users not answering their QAs as planned.
  • If you filter the Week Plan for a specific team, Deliverable lines which do not include any Activity that the team is supposed to work on will from now on be hidden to keep things handy.
  • A problem has been resolved, which could lead to not being able to create “ad-hoc” activities from the Week Plan page.
  • The performance of the Deliverables list has been improved.

  • Furthermore, attached QA Checklists will be prompted if activities are started, finished or confirmed.
  • The team responsible for executing the activity has to answer attached QA checklists whenever it reports “work started” or “finished”.
  • QA checklists which are answered while reporting “work started” can still include QA items answered with “not checked”.
  • Once an activity is finished all QA items have to be answered with “Yes” or “No”.
  • A “Yes” answer can optionally be proved by attaching a Note including a photo.
  • To “No” answers users will have to add a Note.
  • The Confirming Team will see all answers the Responsible Team uploaded when finishing the activity while marking it as “confirmed”.
  • The Confirming Team can also upload QA checklists including “not checked” answers.
  • Before QA checklists can be uploaded to the server, users will have to sign using their Sablono password when they are about to set activities to “finished” or “confirmed”. When an activity is marked as “work started” users will not have to sign its attached QA checklist, yet.
  • QA checklist items that have been marked as “mandatory for confirming team” will be shown more prominent in the Today app and have to be answered “Yes” or “No” even by the Confirming Team.

  • Update to our email notification: If an activity includes a Confirming team the successor of that activities will only be notified that the predecessor was done once it was confirmed. Also, the Confirming team will receive email notifications about Activities that have been marked as finished and are therefore ready for confirmation.
  • New “confirmed” state on the web-platform: You will see the new state everywhere on the web-platform. If an activity was finished and does not need confirmation you will see the green tick as you are used to. If it was finished and is waiting for confirmation you will from now on see two grey ticks. Once the activity was confirmed you will see two green ticks.
  • If a QA checklist has been assigned to an activity which also needs confirmation the Confirming Team will be asked to answer a second version of the checklist while confirming it.
  • You will be able to review results of QA checklists in a brand-new tab on the Deliverables Details View.
  • Here you will find uploaded and not signed QA checklists that have been filled while the Responsible Team marked activities as “work started” as well as signed QA checklists uploaded while moving activities to “finished” compared to results signed by the Confirming Team while setting them to “confirmed”.
  • Click on any item in the list to see the QA checklist in detail and understand how each item was answered.

This is how the scheduling engine was improved:

  • From now on, Sablono will always calculate your projects schedule forwards and backwards.
  • User-defined Deliverable start dates will be used as constraints for the forward calculation, while user-defined Deliverable due dates are constraints for the backward calculation.
  • Both calculations lead to Earliest and Latest start and end dates for all Deliverables and Activities.
  • The Total Float (buffer between Latest and Earliest dates) for all Deliverables and Activities will also be shown.
  • The UI was adapted to show those new dates everywhere on the platform.
  • From now on, you will also be able to put manual gaps into your sequences.
  • Those manual gaps can be created by moving a specific Activity to a user-defined start or due date. User-defined Activity dates influence the Earliest start and end dates for successors and the Latest start and end dates for predecessors of the moved Activity.

The newest features are:

  • Sablono calculates how many days late your deliverables are at any moment, automatically.
  • To do so, we are using the proven critical path method: Based on the currently reported progress we will calculate a predicted delivery date for each deliverable and afterwards display any difference from the planned due date.
  • These delays will be presented in the deliverables list as well as the deliverables details view.
  • The automatically send daily Sablono emails have been updated: In addition to deliverables which are ready for your team, you will now also see a list of those deliverables for which one of your following trades reported progress before you finished your task. This is supposed to remind you regularly to update the platform with your latest progress.

  • A bug has been solved, which could lead to Project Managers not being able to assign a process template to a deliverable in the deliverables details view.
  • The Week Plan will now also show UK date format everywhere.

Sablono platform 3.0

The newest features are:

  • The automatic scheduling mode has been updated: From now on start and due dates of deliverables are taking into account as long as the deliverable in question does not have a predecessor which would influence its start date.
  • To calculate if a deliverable is running behind schedule, Sablono from now on takes a close look at all activities that need to be performed to finish it. If only one of those activities is running behind schedule the whole deliverable will be labeled accordingly. This ensures a way more accurate calculation.
  • The update timeline on the dashboard as well as the separate page have been completely redesigned! Enjoy the new, clean and modern look which fits perfectly to all other pages on Sablono.

Also, some improvements have been released:

  • The header bar has been cleaned up. To change the language of your user interface please click on your user badge and select a language from the appearing drop down.

Sablono platform 2.44

The Sablono platform in Version 2.44 is available now! It comes with major improvements of Sablono’s scheduling engine and prepares the web-app for its big 3.0 release planned for the next month.

The newest features are:

  • You can set up a planned start and end date for your projects now. Do so in the Project Settings or while creating new projects.
  • You can choose between two available scheduling modes now: Auto and manual scheduling.
  • Manual scheduling works exactly as Sablono worked until today – Activities are automatically scheduled for each Deliverable separately. Deliverable start and due dates are kept, while dependencies between different deliverables do not effect your project schedule.
  • Auto scheduling includes dependencies between different deliverables and automatically schedules your project based on those.
  • Therefore, it is finally possible to use Sablono for all CPM and scheduling related calculations – no other scheduling tool needed anymore!
  • If you are running your project in auto scheduling, you will encounter a new notification: Since the recalculating of your whole project schedule might take a while, it will not be done automatically with every little change you do. Some minor updates will be collected and incorporated into the programme once you request Sablono to do so.

Also, we solved some minor bugs:

  • A problem has been resolved which could lead to loading a different tab in the deliverables Details View after switching to another deliverable.
  • You can sort your project on the Project Selection page by planned start date now.
  • The way you sorted your projects will now be saved for multiple sessions.

  • This will be shown in the details view of each deliverable.

Sablono platform 2.41

The next update is already available! Version 2.41 is up and running. From now on you can batch update any number of deliverables with just a few clicks!

This is how it works:

  • Update any number of deliverables using the same process template by selecting them from the list.
  • Afterwards select those activities you want to update for the selected deliverables and change the status.

We also improved our daily email notification:

  • From now on the email will also show the activity which needs to be done for each deliverable.
  • How long that activity is planned to take.
  • When it is due according to the project schedule.

Sablono platform 2.40

The brand new Sablono version 2.40 is already available! The release once again focuses on deliverable and activity start and due dates.

The newest features are:

  • If you only defined either a start or a due date for your project deliverables, the other one will now be calculated based on the activities (and their durations) assigned to the deliverable.
  • You will see those calculated dates everywhere on the platform, including the deliverables details view, the bar chart and the deliverable list.
  • In the deliverables details view those calculated dates are marked with an indicator.

Also, we solved some minor bugs:

  • A bug has been solved which could lead to not showing today when opening the calendar to select a date.
  • Multiple fixes for Internet Explorer have been introduced.

Sablono platform 2.39

Version 2.39 is up and running. The release includes better handling of deliverable and activity start and due dates as well as a new email notification.

The newest features are:

  • If you trigger an automatic scheduling of your site activities (e.g. by changing the Project Calendar) after setting a custom start or due date for any of those activities (e.g. by moving them in the Week Plan), you will now be asked if you want to overwrite your manual changes with the new version of the schedule or if you want to keep them.
  • Sablono is now able to notify your trades once their predecessor trade finished their jobs. Always know exactly which deliverables are ready for your team to come in. This will reduce your trade-to-trade handover times enormously! Contact us if you want to activate the feature for your project.
  • Sablono is now available in Spanish. Bienvenido!

Also, we solved some minor bugs:

  • A problem has been solved which could lead to visual errors on the Project Dashboard displayed on some devices.

Sablono platform 2.38

The newest update of the platform was released today! Version 2.38 finally introduces Non-Working Days to your project calendar.

And this is how it works:

  • Define Non-Working Days for each project in the Project Calendar section on the Project Settings.
  • Those days will from now on not be included into your schedule.
  • To see the result you can e.g. open the Details View of any deliverable on the Deliverable Progress Page.

Also, we solved some minor bugs and introduced some improvements:

  • Introduced a new error tracking tool which will make customer support that much more efficient.
  • Show the full Project Structure for all deliverables in the list on the Deliverables Progress Page.
